claymation

Today we did an animation with clay (claymation) and the evidence can be seen on you tube via the hyperlink: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0jybtIsgQ0

During Monday we had to create a claymation character out of plasticine the first task was to try and create morph the claymation character which was very hard and i couldn't even get close enough to resemble the character and so i tried to make something more simpler like an animal which i couldn't do either so i made a shield trying to resemble captain Americas which i resembled although i couldn't get the white star right so i didn't have much to use in the animation. whilst using different colours of the plasticine the colour which i was using was dark blue and that rubbed onto the white so it made it discoloured which wasn't very appealing to have.

furthermore today when we were meant to be creating our animations using istop motion but i didn't have a character so out of the clay that i used was the creation of an elephant by my teacher and from watching him and knowing how to make legs and the body i am now confident that id be able to make some of the four legged animals.

whilst doing the istop motion animation the process was long and slow but the moving was made smooth by the amount of shots that were taken for each motion which was taking place within the short film lasting around fifteen seconds

The film consists of three characters an elephant, snail and a morph named Davros who is a magical being who appears and disappears scaring Ellie the elephant and Gary the snail doesn't believe her   but before hand they are playing football and Ellie kicks the ball away and wont get it for Gary and whilst Gary is away the magical Davros appears and scare Ellie.

our inspiration was from morph which was from the television and i saw it first on a programme called art attack and then morph moved to smart.

During today i have worked on a cut out animation that is called tony and the rocket ship which is posted on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fzvdr8krNSI&feature=youtu.be

Whilst doing the cutout drawings we had to design a character and see what we could use for a bit of a story line. it was difficult trying to decide what storyline to have and a type of character to use and we firstly decided to make a character with hands built on an the hands weren't even close to resembling one another so we scrapped that idea and went with a character with no hands and had a telepathic power although it wasn't show in the short movie.

Whilst using istop motion it took alot of time as we needed to adjust slightly the image of the cutout to make it more smother with the motion of the character who was walking across a planets land to get back to his spaceship. whilst doing this we made a mistake as it jumped so we had to go back and add in more images to make it more smother

once we had finished it we exported it using quick time player and then imported it into imovie on the mac so i could add music to make the short movie more entertaining for the viewers via YouTube. there was a problem although as it was only a short i couldn't have a usual music genre so i used garage band and created an aery type of sci-fi music that only lasted the same amount of time as the movie.

it was quite easy to do when we learned how to use the program by doing it but the only thing was its a bit finicky having to move everything a little bit at a time other than that it was quite enjoyable.
